A Short History:

I hung up my Shingle here in Monroe in 1995,and began Ahrens Valley Eyeworks.

I had been in the Optical field for several years, had my State License to practice, and decided it was time to Open my own place. I opened in the Spring of 95 bringing all the best experiences from those years in Optics, to the Sky Valley communities. Monroe had always intrigued me as to its location. A special place that sat at the base of the Cascades, close proximity to all seasonal activities, and which offered a relaxing community of wonderful folks, to which we began.

The Shop:

I decided to keep my place small and inviting, and designed it with a 'At Home Sort of feel'. By using lots of Natural surroundings including live edge wood work, stone, and lots of greenery, I wanted to get away from the clinical and or Big Box same ole same ole look. Once arriving at the front door, I wanted it to feel inviting as if walking into a Mountain chalet. A visit to our place, is a bit different than the Norm..

Mission:

I brought the idea of Fashion and Style to that of personalized dispensing.

Lots of people don't really see themselves in glasses, so my mission was to help our customers find that Very Special Pair that speaks to that individual.

It can be overwhelming with all the diversity in materials and designs to pick from today. That is where We Come in. We will analyze your prescription and help you personally find the right frame options that work with that prescription. Many facets of a prescription require a specialized frame to adequately carry that prescription, and a lens design that will provide the very best visual outcome and performance. One lens type does not cut it, and many times requires a specialized design to provide a precise vision outcome. One Set Can't do it all, these days:

With the degree of activities we all are involved in these days, we are all multitasking. Much Like a pair of shoes, one pair doesn't fill all our needs.

These days, One set of eyewear many times, doesn't fill the needs of our busy lifestyle.

The addition of specialized glasses that are task oriented come into play. These may include a set for the Computer, maybe a prescription set for Golfing, Fishing, and Maybe even a set for the workshop, sewing etc. We always have a Second Set Discount Special running, so it's a great time to get geared up.

Personalised Service

Personalized service is 'Not Dead'. Growing up in the 50s, Old Fashion service is how we run our business. I believe this is essential in helping our customer make informed decisions.

Frame selecting can be overwhelming and that's where Gina and I as the Opticians, can help you choose great options that will work with your prescription, and choosing a frame design and material, that will perform well for your particular vision and or lifestyle needs. At AVE, Unlike Big Box Stores, we are not locked into a particular allotment of Store Brand lens designs. We have the ability to draw from any lens out there in the industry, and can fine tune the most difficult vision needs you might have. Not all Lens Designs or coatings are the same.
